The 950-year history of Hohensalzburg Fortress is often reduced to the Middle Ages, overlooking the fact that it was used for military purposes until it was converted for tourism in the 20th century. This special tour focuses primarily on the period following the Napoleonic Wars, when Salzburg eventually became part of Austria and the fortress served as barracks and a base for the Rainer Regiment.
