The name Odeïon has its origins in Greece and describes a building for musical performance. The Odeïon in Salzburg was designed as a culture forum and stage for entertainment, sociopolitical debate, education and emotions. The Odeïon was originally planned to be an auditorium for the neighboring Rudolf Steiner School. Today the Dorthea Porsche Hall is still used for school performances but also open to the public as a venue for culture programs.

The building

The Odeïon was built from 2006 – 2008 according to plans by the German architect, Jens Peters. The organic architecture is dominated by an open design that offers enough room for creativity and creative effect.

The Hall

The Dorothea Porsche Hall is a professional multipurpose room whose technical equipment makes it ideally suited for concerts, theater, dance performances and presentations. The steep elevation of the rows of seats allows greater visibility and an unobstructed view of the stage. The hall is also distinguished by its elegant atmosphere and outstanding acoustics.
